In short
troveGEN search finds passages by exact words and by meaning at the same time, ranks them, and returns each with its source page, section and a relevance label. Access rules are applied inside the query, so people and agents only ever see what they are allowed to.
Finding
Keywords and meaning together
Exact terms catch codes, names and numbers; meaning catches differently worded questions. The two are fused automatically, and the balance adapts to the question.
Natural questions work
Long, conversational questions are matched on their meaningful words, so a question does not need to be rewritten into keywords.
18 languages, across languages
Ask in English and find a Hindi or Arabic passage, or ask in the document’s own language. Reranking is switched on automatically when the question and the passages differ in language.
Your own vocabulary
Add synonyms and abbreviations for your field. Industry vocabulary can be applied automatically.
Search by image
With a vision model configured, submit a picture; it is described and matched against figures and passages.
Tables and numbers
Row-level entries are returned for questions about specific rows, and the whole table only when it helps.
Ranking
Sensible defaults, nothing to tune
Weights, candidate counts and score floors are chosen from measurements. Only the settings you change are stored.
Optional AI ranking
One model call reads the top candidates and orders them, grading the best ten as a direct answer, relevant, or mentions the topic. Available per request, per project and in the Search tab.
Reranking models
Add a cross-encoder reranker, hosted or self-hosted, where it helps your corpus.
Freshness
Optionally favour newer documents with a half-life you choose, without hiding older evidence.
Index and contents pages last
Book indexes and tables of contents are kept searchable but ranked below real content unless you ask for them.
Completing
Related passages
When one fact spans several passages, return the neighbours, the whole section, the parent group, or passages that mention the same person, product or place.
Search across projects
Pick any number of projects; results are merged by rank and each result names its project.
As-of search
With versioning on, ask what the documents said on a past date.
Restricting
Filters on any field
Filter by department, date, customer, document type or any field you attach. The filter applies to both halves of the search.
Permissions inside the query
Access rules remove restricted passages before ranking. Signed end-user assertions and group membership from your identity provider mean a caller cannot step outside their own access.
An honest empty result
When nothing relevant exists, the result is empty rather than the closest wrong passage.

Each result shows its relevance label, page, section and source document, and opens in the document viewer at the exact passage.

Every response says what ran: mode, ranking, filters applied, and why a result set is short.

Questions people ask
What is hybrid search?
Hybrid search runs keyword matching and meaning-based matching together and combines the results. Keywords find exact codes and names, meaning finds differently worded questions, and the combination beats either alone.
How fast is troveGEN search?
On our production hardware, measured on 17 October 2026, search took about 0.12 s at the median and under 0.15 s at the 95th percentile. While a large upload was running it stayed under 0.7 s. Your own network adds no public internet hop when you self-host.
Does search respect user permissions?
Yes. Access rules are applied inside the query, before ranking, using signed end-user assertions and your group structure, so a restricted passage cannot appear for any wording of a question.
Can I search in several languages?
Yes. Eighteen languages are verified end to end, and a question in one language can find a passage in another.
Can I search across more than one project?
Yes. Choose any set of projects in the console or the API; each is searched with its own settings and permissions and the results are merged by rank.
